eHawu Secure Mail

Description

eHawu Secure Mail is email the way it should have been all along: yours. We run our own mail server, we don’t sell data, and there’s no advertiser looking over your shoulder. If you’ve used Proton Mail and liked the idea but want a South African service on your own domain, this is it.

What you get

• A mailbox on your own domain (you bring the domain, we walk you through the four DNS records to add at your registrar), or a free @ehawu.africa address while you decide
• 5 GB storage per mailbox
• Webmail in any browser, plus IMAP, SMTP and POP3 so it works with Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or your phone’s mail app
• Calendar and contacts that sync between devices
• Spam and virus filtering done server-side before junk reaches you
• TLS enforced in transit, DKIM/SPF/DMARC and MTA-STS handled for you. Mail you send actually lands in inboxes, and mail to you is encrypted the whole way
• Aliases and redirects, managed by you or by us
• Human support from our team, not a ticket black hole

What it isn’t

We won’t oversell it. This is strong, properly-configured, privacy-first email on infrastructure we control in-country. It isn’t zero-access encrypted mail where even we can’t read your messages, no mainstream provider can honestly do that with standard IMAP. Your mail is encrypted in transit and on our disks, protected by spam filtering, daily backups and monitoring, and only you have the password to check it.

Billing

R149 per mailbox per month, VAT included. Billed monthly through PayFast, cancel any time. One mailbox, one subscription.

Launch offer

The service went live this month. Founders who sign up during the first month get their mailboxes migrated by hand (we import your old mail over for free) and a direct line to the engineers who run the servers.
